Church Leadership Session The Session is composed of twelve elders, together with the pastor who are responsible for the oversight of the congregation and to the Presbytery of Olympia.The term of elder is three years, and the only requirement is a desire to serve God, along with membership at Westminster Presbyterian Church.Candidates are nominated by the Nominating Committee, and any interested persons can contact the chair of Nominating Committee.Each elder serves on and/or chairs a department and attends its monthly meetings, attends the monthly session meeting, the annual officer retreat, and special meetings as necessary. Board Of Deacons The Deacons shepherd the entire congregation, caring especially for the elderly and those with special needs. Under their supervision is “care and concern” which enables us as a congregation to reach out to families with help when personal emergencies such as death or sickness arise.The term of Deacon is three years and the only requirement is a desire to serve God, along with membership at Westminster Presbyterian Church.Candidates are nominated by the Nominating Committee and any interested persons can contact a member of the Nominating Committee.Each deacon attends the monthly deacon meeting, the annual offices retreat, and special meetings as necessary. Nominating Committee The Nominating Committee is chaired by an elder and consists of five-six members of the church: two elders, one deacon and four members-at-large.This committee is responsible for the timely selection of new leadership for the church.The committee primarily nominates people to be Elders and Deacons in the church.There are also some specialty committees that are filled by the Nominating Committee.These specialty committees could be things such as a pastor search committee, or some other type of short-term committee.In all, this committee nominates people to take leadership roles at Westminster Presbyterian Church.
