Youth and Children Sunday School takes place during the Sunday school hour between the two worship services. There are classes beginning with preschool and going through high school. The younger classes all meet together in the sanctuary for gathering time at 9:45am, to discuss missions and other projects, before separating into their classes. Any and all children are welcome to attend without pre-registering; just join the gathering time and we’ll find their place.
Teachers are needed for all ages. The time commitment is one hour on Sunday morning of teaching, along with about an hour during the week for preparation. Volunteers need not teach for the entire year; there are many ‘teams’ teaching the various grade levels. Curriculum is provided and is very easy and enjoyable to teach. Folks wishing to have their names on a substitute teachers list are also welcome.
There are several opportunities to support the Sunday School program, including, but not limited to: preparation and decoration of bulletin boards to highlight the happenings and missions of the Sunday school, stocking the supply room and filling the needs during the year as items run low or if teachers request specific items, planning and executing teacher appreciation events, and planning and executing the much loved ‘Sundae Sunday,’ which is an ice cream party for all of Sunday School. Please contact the Director of Family Ministries to find out about becoming involved in this ministry and outreach to the children of Westminster.
